The Fated Couple - Chapter 1

"Grandpa, Tell me more about yours inventions!"

"Yes... I was an inventory once, *scoffs* what a fool I was...".

"Why do you say that? Aren't inventors really cool!"

He adjusted his glasses to take a better look, "Mateo... was it? I once thought I could play with time. Only to have it play me".

"".

John started rocking in his chair as he closed his eyes remembering, "It all started in 1941..."

Year 1941

John

I chugged a bottle of rum to drown all the noise inside my head. I spent years to invent the machine that could make history, I even refused other ideas. They were right...with no investors, no money, I'm here spending my last dime to get drunk and get wasted.

Is this how it ends for me? I lost my balance and almost tripped on the stairs when a hand grabbed a hold of me. Everything was a blur, the last thing I saw was someone with a blue hat and a dress before loosing consciousness.

I woke up to a wooden ceiling. My mind was a haze as I tried to get my sense back. I allowed my eyes to wonder and sit up straight as I found a woman sitting on a chair beside the bed I was laying.

She wore a beautiful blue dress. With fair skin and blonde curly hair, she looked absolutely stunning. I watched her with a new fascination as she scrunched her eyebrows in her sleep. I reached out to caress her eyebrows, just then she woke up and welcomed me with her pearl-like smile. "You are awake, good, how do you feel? how many fingers am I holding up?"

Hearing her honey laced voice made me go into some sort of trance. I ended up blurting, "You are beautiful". She laughed, oh god she laughed.

"I know darling. But I asked how you were"

I blushed and completely embarrassed I said something like, "Uh...yeah I'm good".

"Good, I'm Rose and I found you stumbling outside the bank I was visiting, you were very drunk and I couldn't get you to wake up, so I brought you to my home. Do you have any other questions".

"Th..thank you. I owe you one but do you usually go arround and ah... help drunken men and bring them home?"

Rose laughed and I loved every sound of it, "No, I just think you are special"

"Me special?",I laughed dryly,"I think you are a bad judge of character". "I'm a broke, a failed inventory with no investors. You should be careful next time".

"You know John, I believe that you have one of the greatest minds and you'll achieve great things. I'll help you".

"And how do you plan on doing that?"

"I'll be your investor and provide you blueprints, you'll just have to make them for me".

I just couldn't believe my ears. I was finally getting a gig and that too at the hands of this amazing woman. If she had asked me to jump I would've gladly done it. I nodded and started thinking of all the new ideas, I was going to be busy. Very busy.

At that time I didn't realise that I never introduced myself during our interaction, then how did she knew my name.

The Fated Couple - Chapter 2

Year 1942  Rose It has been a year since I've started interacting with this John. I gave him ideas and he worked his magic. He was charming, witty, smart and most importantly handsome. I watched as John worked on my latest blueprint. He was covered in dust with his slightly long brown hair tied up in a small pony, his sleeves folded up, showing his tan skin and beads of sweat trickling his forehead. I could keep looking at him forever . "Hey, you are staring as if you'll burn a hole through me". He smirked, "Like what you see". I rolled my eyes and hurried off to the kitchen. I couldn't let him see me turning into a tomato. I fumbled through some ingredients and put together a sandwich. I knew how John would sometimes forget to eat or drink while working. That's how focused he would be. I felt proud to be in the same room as him. He didn't understand how much talented he was. He was perfect. My kind of perfect. I grabbed the tray and stepped in t...
