Year 1942
Rose
It has been a year since I've started interacting with John. I gave him ideas while he worked his magic. He was charming, witty, smart and most importantly handsome.
I watched as John worked on my latest blueprint. He was covered in dust with his slightly long brown hair tied up in a small pony, his sleeves folded up, showing his tan skin and beads of sweat trickling his forehead.
"Hey, you are staring as if you plan on burning a hole through me!"
He smirked, "Like what you see".
I rolled my eyes and hurried off to the kitchen. I couldn't let him see me turning into a tomato.
I fumbled through some ingredients and put together a sandwich. I knew how John would sometimes forget to eat or drink while working. That's how focused he would be. I felt proud to be in the same room as him. He didn't understand how much talented he was. He was perfect. My kind of perfect.
I grabbed the tray of freshly cooked cookies and stepped in to the living room where he was working. "We should go out".
He raised his eyebrow, "Suddenly?"
"Uh.. I mean you've been holded up here since a couple of weeks. I think getting some fresh air would do good for you... I mean us.."
"Oh yeah? Sure let's go out. What do you have in mind?"
"I've always wanted to visit the circus. There is one in town. So what do you say?"
"Your wish is my command, lady", he bowed.
I couldn't stop laughing at his silliness.
Going to the circus was one of the best dates, we had ever been to. We laughed and clapped like little kids, amazed by the string of shows. The food, the music created the space we needed to be with each other.
For the first time in months, I was not thinking about our future, the anxiety of how things could gp wrong or how much time I had left. Everything was perfect, it felt like home, he felt like home...
6 Months Later
Time flew and I knew what I had to do. *Coughs*.
"John, I have something to discuss with you"
"Sure, go head, what is it, love?"
"I want you to continue on your research the one you gave up on"
"Rose, you know there is no hope for that, I've spent years trying to perfect it, It's a lost cause I'm afraid"
"But, you can. I believe in you. Please John do it for me"
I could see the gears turning in his head. He was hesitant but I needed him to do this. I placed my hand on his, reassuring him, trying to convince him.
"Fine, I'll try once more".
*Coughs*
"You okay? You've been coughing a lot lately, should we see a doctor?", his eyes brimmed with worry.
"I'm fine John..Don't worry, it's just a cold, it'll pass", I smiled.
Everything will be fine. I might not be by your side for much long, however know that I'll always be with you...
